Diet labels are usually self-reported, and definitions vary. Some surveys ask whether respondents identify as vegetarian; others ask what they actually ate over a recent period. Vegan diets are a separate category, not simply another name for vegetarian diets. A small online poll cannot automatically stand in for an entire country's population.
