Least Doctors

Understand least doctors: what the measure counts, how to read it and where to check the source.

A physician headcount does not reveal how evenly doctors are distributed or how many hours they work. Registered, professionally active and practising doctors are different populations. Per-person rates help compare country sizes, but they can still hide shortages outside major cities. Training capacity and access to other health professionals also matter for care.
