Highest Speed Limits
Understand highest speed limits: what the measure counts, how to read it and where to check the source.
A country's highest speed limit says little about most of its roads. Limits vary by road type, vehicle, weather and time of day, and some roads have advisory speeds rather than a fixed general maximum. A comparison needs to specify passenger cars and ordinary conditions instead of treating one exceptional road as a national rule.
About the data
Motorway limits depend on vehicle, road and weather; unrestricted roads do not have a finite maximum. The saved rank has no rule for these exceptions.
