Countries by Oil Production

Understand countries by oil production: what the measure counts, how to read it and where to check the source.

Oil statistics may cover crude oil alone or include condensates and other liquids. Production is different from exports, since some output is consumed domestically. A country's ranking can change when the definition changes even without any new wells. Daily flow units also need a common period rather than mixing a monthly peak with an annual average.

About the data

Use the production series in thousand barrels per day; crude-only and oil-liquids totals differ. Saved year and product definition are missing.
